<<However, I am not so sure whether it would be possible to create a creature that is half-human-half-horse (the Centaur) or what else you have in mind. >>

I have heard that the scientific community has suggested that cloning of monkeys and humans has probably already been performed. Apparently monkeys have something like 95% or better of our own DNA. Also, there has been a successful cloning of a turkey and a grouse, I believe.

<<Since so many of our social problems are associated with sex, might not the dispensation with sex (or non-requirement of male-female sex for reproduction)suggested in "Enemy Mine" make for a happier world???

The medical journals are filled with cases of hermaphrodites, that is both sexes at once. In the old days doctors would ask the parents if they want a little boy or a little girl and perform the operation. Today there is an organization, a support group for parents faced with this dilema. Generally I believe there is no reproductive capability. However, I don't see that as a problem in the lab. From what I understand of cloning the process is relatively simple, the problem is a viable life form after the creation.
