I gave a list of what the current wholesale prices for the DLT7000 drives are here in Canada (Just click on my name and you can find the post). The price has dropped almost 20% in close to a year. Historically that is the type of drop one would expect from any high end product over time. Assuming QNTM's ramping up of volume has occurred as expected, the the impact on their net margin should not be too substantial. On the lower end drives though I think here has been more damage to prices (probably because of competition from EXBT and SONY). This is why they are probably trying to move the market up to the DLT7000 from the 4000 devices.

About 6 months ago I remember them mentioning a Terastor product being due out at about this time, hope we hear an announcement soon.

Sam are you sure that in light of jabil's statements in their conf.call and on CNBC that you would term ,a slowing of the dlt as speculation,I mean hell jabil with out saying quantum said that storage product's were down 18% ,if you want to end speculation its right their, whats important is does the 29cents this quarter equate to 10% growth in dlt or a -17% growth, everyone knows that most of the 29cent is dlt, base on the above qntm should make 0-29ct most likely somewhere in the middle .So how would that impact the stock and what action is best ?Now thats where I would focus my speculation.jmho patroller

<<And how serious is the inventory problem, if there is indeed one? All
of this is still speculative at this point, for us anyway. >>
Sam, I would guess lingering but not too serious if revenues are near flat. One reason Jabil would see weakness from Quantum in the quarters ahead is that Quantum supposedly will have second source of DLT with launch of DLT 7000 plus which is due out this year. This assumes the plus counts as Quantum's next product which seems like a reasonable speculation.
