That is a good idea Jack, but do you think you could win if your father was Richard Speck or Son of Sam and you never told anyone about it?

Jim

On the other hand, someone could disarm the media by an early
candid and open discussion of his past "indiscretions". Most of us would understand and not hold it against a person if he had learned from his mistakes.

No doubt. But why SHOULD politicians feel compelled to talk about this stuff? ("I'd like to say, rather than addressing actual issues of importance to this nation, that on my 21st birthday I got drunk and my buddies fixed up an appointment with a prostitute....") Why should we care?

And it's an invitation to hypocrisy. I've seen one after another get up and say they'd "engaged in youthful experimentation with marijuana", and it had of course, been a Terrible Mistake. Gimme a break. Like most other people of my (and subsequent) generations, I smoked grass, didn't "experiment" with it. And it was a helluva lotta fun. Should be legalized.

But oooh, now we are so much more cautious. Anybody wanna experiment with a little.....animal fat? Caffeine?
