Jim,>>>I was about to buy a refurbished Compaq Pentium II-300 box but decided to go with a new Cyrix system because there must be something
wrong with the Pentium II...<<<

Next time you take an important customer out to dinner for your hedge fund, you could tell him how you saved a few dollars buying a used computer or instead of a new Pentium II, you bough a new Cyrix system - maybe this way he could pick up the check. Pretty smart.

Regards<gggg>,

Mary

There is nothing wrong with "refurb" computer equipment as long as you have a reasonable warranty. In my experience, most computer equipment that is returned, is returned because of a deficient operator mechanism, the return in and of itself solves this by exchanging the deficient component. Even those that have other problems are ok if the problems are fixed. I buy refurb stuff all the time, it saves 20% or so, and the problem rate is typically LOWER than for unopened boxes. The only thing I have a problem with is paying for unopened boxes and getting refurb equipment anyway, that's illegal, but it happens.
