Aaron the average cost per ounce of gold differs between mines of course. Some of the most profitable producing mines are into $220 per ounce cost. Many mines between $280-$320. The methods used today are much more effective in gold recovery. Some mines need $500 per ounce gold or more to break even. Those closed down a long time ago.
