Funny, At some companies they smash them with axes.

Since I have a number of network clients the biggest problem I have is fiddlers. They adjust this, and then that, and next thign you know they have a blank screen because the fiddled their screen res to make 'Monica' look sexy.

I remember one guy who had browsed his hard(assigned space) drive full and wanted more space. I started to reach into his history and we was amazed at what I found there, as was I. I taught him how to clear those dirty old pictures away.

Once a network is running with straight users both Win95 and NT run forever with minimal problems. That is why I get so shocked when you say a PC network is a career. I would say that when you get to 50 stations you can justify some sort of daily presence, if only to do a quick check that all is well.

I know one place with 300 NT boxes who have a full time tech. Place is fiddled endlessly by engineers no less. He seems to have few problems. Wide range of machines several servers for different functions like Eng, Accounts, Sales, all with assorted access controls. But one guy seems to run it. All Compaq from top to bottom with 100/T.
Of course from time to time he stays all night.

How do Apples compare when you have large groups like that? I have only seen small Appletalk networks in small print shops.

Most WIntels rarely fail electrically, in my experience.
