SemiBull,

Aseco and Cohu do compete in test handlers. Cohu has other small businesses and Aseco bought into sorting and inspection. These are areas where they don't compete. Cohu did very well last year, is a more profitable company than Aseco and is not outrageously priced but was much cheaper last year. However, Cohu has three significant question marks in the current environment:

1. Cohu's top customers are Motorola, Intel and Micron. Of these, Motorola and Micron's capital spending may be affected by their current problems.

2. Cohu has large exposure to Asia.

3. Aseco had some drastic change in status in just the last month. Cohu is in the same niche.

Aseco PSR is somewhere around .5 while Cohu is about 1.6. I would be a little cautious with Cohu until their next earning announcement. That should make their situation clearer.

The above is a pretty simple analysis. Possibly you can add something or someone else reading this can help us both.

Good hunting,

Dave
