the letter from datek in last months statement stated the rules about margin interest, including not paying you interest of 4 % on monies received due to a short sale. (of course, I just read that letter today while clearing out my inbox)<G>

" They don't even have the guts to tell the customers they charge 7% interest on short position if you use the margin part. "

This is NOT what Datek's printed disclosure statement says. If they really are doing this, you should sue em'!

Are you SURE they are doing this?

According to their disclosure statement, they charge interest on your unrealized loss on a short position when they "mark to market".

I think it's time for one of those "I'm so-and-so, the whozamajigger for Datek Securities" posts...
