I do something similar to your method. I group stocks based on the threads that I found them. Since I am, as yet, not a stock picker I find that this method helps me to recall the origin of the stock so I can do several things: 1) relate the stock to the thread "style" short term, long term, speculative, TA based, FA based etc 2) I only put stocks into my database which I have inspected on a internet chart or ones which Doug R, Three Amigos, TATRADER, Jenna, Lastshadow and a few others list since I find theirs to be of utmost quality. 3) this allows me to go back to the thread to thank the poster of the given stock.

I will take your advise and periodically go through my database and kickout poor charts. I imagine these will mostly be found on the TA threads as many are for short term trades only.
