I agree with your assessment that they are big in currency, deriviatives, and other high finance areas, such as asset-based securitization. However, I still think Citicorp wants to expand their underwriting abilities. Citicorp continues to focus on it's global presence and brand recognition. JP also is global and highly regarded in investment banking. Long-term maybe this would be a good fit. But I agree with you that mergers will come and go, thus, speculating on this situation is wishful thinking. I don't know if the Germans would let us merge with Dresdner since Citicorp is pretty big in Germany for a foreign bank. Although, I like your thoughts about DLJ. BOA and Nations have taken over a couple of our investment bankers here in California. Would DLJ fit in Citicorp's strategy and culture.
