Financial institutions in US to get government help on Year 2000
by Jonathan Lambeth

US President Bill Clinton signed into law on Friday an Act
requiring federal regulatory agencies to assist financial
institutions battling the Year 2000 problem.

The Examination Parity and Year 2000 Readiness for
Financial Institutions Act calls upon federal agencies
involved in the regulation of the financial sector to
conduct seminars and advise financial institutions on
tackling the Year 2000.

"The Year 2000 problem is one of the great challenges of
the information age in which we live," said Clinton.
