Naturally I must disagree. Gordon, though wounded 3 times was not an originator of plan. He was a fine officer who carried out orders without question (which makes him far and above better than Longstreet. BTW, one of Gordons finest moments was when he bacame Commander in Chief of the FIRST organized confederate veteran organization, and was largely responcible for getting pensions to many Southern Vets and their widows. I actually have the original pension application for my GGG Grandfather submitted by his wife. If I were to pick a team of officers Gordon, Johnston, Jackson, Forrest, Stuart and Pickett would all be in the line up with The "Great One" coaching. Few historians would dispute that the South had BETTER officers. I concede that Grant was the best that the North had but I am truthful when I say that I wouldn't choose him to lead my people into battle.
