Sheila; The Radio Shack deal could play out to be much bigger
than most short term thinkers can think..sure it could fizzel
but beyond what most people are looking at I see a way it could
soar..that has to do with the on coming wireless hook up to
the internet, ( its a very fast connection and could leap frog even
the xDLS technoligy )..well with 7000 stores within 10mi of
95% of the population think about it. 10 mile being the optimum
range of a wireless hook up..( but not the limit ).
Keep in mind something that is not talked of very much is
Sprints deal with radio shack to bring in T1 lines..in time
Radio Shack stores could become the number 1 ISP to the
main backbones , this looks like it will be franshised out
to thousands of enterprising smaller investors , but guess what servers will be in thoes stores, and likely intergrated into
the sprint backbone. Will it happen ? I don't know..but it could and some people are looking at it hard.
Already the 56K modems are facing threats from xDLS technoligy
making most modems obsolete before much longer, with wireless right
behind that..I don't like Microsofts heavy handed ways but Bill
Gates learned his lesson back when he made his infamous quote
" 640K memory is all any one should ever need "
Now he tells every one "you have to try to look forward at least
10 years in this business".

On that subject I don't see win 98 doing all that much..his game
plane is more to NT, and NT will likley become the OS on desk
tops and most home computers in just a few years. I think if he
trys to take over the internet he will get ganged up on he needs
to Focus were he has had the most success and stay with getting
a good NT, OS in place ..his trip into left field could slow
him down and there are some OSs that might take advantage of
that.

CPQ has a bright looking future in more ways than one.
