My main point, however, is trying to explain to myself why I believe Intel deserves a higher valuation than Tom Kurlak is willing to give it.

I agree that competiton is good for the consumer and in some ways good for the company - in that it keeps them on their toes. I'm trying to compare Intel to MSFT and other companies with much higher PE's. Even with companies within the same sector such as NSM, ALTR, SUNW - all with higher relative (including AMD) valuations.

Yes, almost everyone will agree that INTC has great fundamentals - as good as if not better than MSFT, KO, G, and GE. All these companies have competition - all have product transition issues - all have variations in growth rate.

What MSFT, KO, G, and GE do not have is a Tom Kurlak that keeps valuations articifially low.
