John; RE> none of the analysts are screaming buy,<< that's right
they seldom do till after the run up..just like they seldom
downgrade till after a 20% or more fall..
the analcyst will get you in more troble than he will help you,
better save all the upgrades and downgrades and chart them,
over a three month period..if you don't want to get to overwhelmed
with the task limit these to say the S&P 100, but what you will
see is that tossing darts at them you will beat the analcyst hands
down, no matter what sector you confine you test to.
This should say something about their motives, as how could they
as a whole do worse than a dart tosser if it were not for many of their calls motivated towards doing just the opposite.
Please don't ask me to prove it..if you don't want to do the
home work forget I said it.
--------------------------------
Last do not forget what March 27th brings and the surprise
that could happen on the 26th.
Ask your broker if he has an additional charge or cost to
your account for the paper work it takes to charge you for
the dividend..all shorts have to pay the dividend to who
ever they borrowed stock from..and there may or may not be
a charge for this service ( that is up to your broker )..
have fun.
------------------------------
P.S. if CPQ pulls a last min surprise on the dividend,
you may pay a hell of a lot more than your counting on.
There are some rumors to this effect..I have no idea how
true they are..but even if I was a strong bear on CPQ..
I would not want to be short on the 26th.
Jim
