GM indeed has a major Y2K program underway which will use mostly in-house talent.

Whether they will buy TAVA's CD-ROM database in addition I couldn't tell you.

However, of equal concern to GM, Ford and Chrysler is the Y2K status of their suppliers...many of whom do not have unlimited talent and bucks to throw at the Y2K problem.

Would you want to buy a vehicle missing seats and door handles?

I doubt it.

<"When does one of these giants call on TAVA??? and why??? should they??? wouldn't someone like GM with over 400,000 employeees have the talent to look at EDS and try and solve their problems internally???>

GM ... ALREADY ... called on TAVA. GM is a TAVA "Y2K" customer. Check out research site, or better yet ... check out C.K. HOUSTON's TAVA Research Report. I have an entire section on GM/TAVA in there.

EDS doesn't do plant floor embedded system stuff. The do IS-IT-MIS stuff.

Check this site out, and maybe you'll get a better understanding of the difference between IS-IT-MIS and Embedded Systems in manufacturing and process control:

Humbly report, Waldemar, regarding why TAVA instead of just internal:

In fact it is not simply a case of either/or.

TAVA works with the engineers you speak of.

TAVA has an extensive database of embedded systems, the utilization of which (via the TAVA CD) is at the disposal of the client company in question (for a nice fee that is).

It benefits TAVA to have the client's engineers involved in the process, since TAVA does not have nearly enough engineers to do all the embedded systems remediation that is necessary - industry-wide.

In a nutshell:

TAVA helps to assess the problem.
Client chooses how to proceed.
TAVA helps in the remediation process, or not, depending on the client.

Please see planty2kone.com for more info.

Hope this helps,

Svejk

Sometimes You Need A Specialist...

Waldemar:

I'm sure GM has many computer specialists... But... The Embedded chip area requires someone that does nothing else... The GM computer specialists probably wear many hats... The TAVA Pro's are like the Neuro and Vascular Surgeons... You wouldn't want a General Practicioner performing these specialized services... This is where TAVA becomes invaluable to any company... TAVA people are specialists that can get to the Heart of the problem... Dr. TAVA is getting very popular... And, yes... They do make house calls... : >
