Interesting that situation may not be as bad as first thought. Now that earnings have been lowered this stock is back on my 10 minute watch list for a rise into the next earnings quarter since they will now, most likely, beat the current estimates. I know I should buy it here but I will look for it to confirm an upward move first.

Companies Plan Aggressive Strategy Targeting
Mobile Service Providers Worldwide

SAN DIEGO, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- QUALCOMM and Alcatel have announced
that wireless service providers worldwide will be able to take delivery of
QUALCOMM's cdmaOne(TM) IS-634 wireless network solution beginning in the
second quarter of 1998. The system features QUALCOMM's QCore(TM) base station
controllers fully integrated with the Alcatel 1000 S12 switching center via
the IS-634 open interface, as well as QCell(TM) base stations. With the IS-
634 open radio-switch interface, the new architecture proves an attractive
option for price- and performance-conscious wireless operators who want
deployment flexibility and not single-vendor proprietary solutions.
"The international market demand for CDMA-based wireless solutions is
increasing at a rapid pace," said David Owen, vice president and general
manager-Mobile Switching, Alcatel Network Systems, Inc. "Alcatel's large
installed switching base and comprehensive international service and support
capabilities, coupled with QUALCOMM's recognized competence in developing and
deploying products for CDMA networks, will provide operators with a strong,
integrated solution."
"We look forward to introducing operators in Asia and beyond to the
benefits of networks that have implemented open interface standards," said
Larry Hartigan, regional vice president, North Asia, for QUALCOMM's Wireless
Infrastructure Division. "Wireless operators in China are likely candidates
for the new IS-634 solution, which provides operators with the flexibility of
choosing the network elements that best suit their needs."
The two companies announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
agreement in September 1997 to use the Alcatel switch in QUALCOMM's cdmaOne
networks. Since then, both companies have conducted many tests of this
integrated solution for the wireless industry in QUALCOMM's research and
development facilities in San Diego, Calif. and Alcatel's design center in
Raleigh, N.C.
In addition to offering the IS-634 solution, QUALCOMM continues to
develop, supply and deploy CDMA networks utilizing the Company's existing
integrated solution, which consists of the QCore 22X(TM) Integrated Base
Station Controller with switching capabilities and QCell base stations.
