It is time once again to post the results of the stock picking contest between the Mr. Pink and davef. Before describing the details of today's competition, I would like to take a moment to thank Johnny Bravo esq for flattering me with his first two post on SI. Now I realize that these were malicious posts, but it warms the heart to realize that the message of the small investor is getting out to the masses. The "little guy" will have his day. Now off to the heavy hitters of the big time financial world. AHG, the pick of the amazing Mr. Pink opened up a huge lead today only to see it all waste away in the wake of a late day rally by Actrade International, the only known pick of davef. The competition was fierce in the final hour when Actrade went flying around AHG, knocking them into the cheap seats. It was the first upside finish for ACRT in a week, possible moving up as the result of davef's abdication as spiritual leader of the Actrade long position. No matter, today's result is a monumental achievement for davef. davef - who's only known stock pick, ACRT, closed at 13 +3/8, up 2.97% recouping all of Friday's losses. Mr. Pink's pick for the competition, the dog of His portfolio, AHG, closed at 11 3/8 down just a TAD. Mr. Pink was unavailalbe for comment as he is in Los Angeles as Master of Ceremonies for the Eddie Awards. The winner for day 5 is davef: 3/23/98 AHG 11 3/8 -1/16 down 0.55% 3/20/98 AHG 11 7/16 -3/16 down 1.61% 3/19/98 AHG 11 5/8 -1/8 down 1.06% 3/18/98 AHG 11 11/16 + 1/8 up 1.08% 3/17/98 AHG 11 9/16 unchanged 3/23/98 ACRT 13 +3/8 up 2.97% 3/20/98 ACRT 12 5/8 -3/8 down 2.88% 3/19/98 ACRT 13 -3/8 down 2.80% 3/18/98 ACRT 13 3/8 + 1/16 up 0.47% 3/17/98 ACRT 13 5/16 -3/8 down 2.74% Cumulative results: Mr. Pink 4 davef 1 This come back victory sets the stage for an exciting week of competitive stock watching. Connoisseurs of stock picking excellence around the globe are anticipating the duel between these two financial moguls. Tomorrow's results will be posted here after the close.
