My email source told me he was correct -- that the initial runs in Fab 25 only yielded a few good CPU's per wafer, and at that point in time the Sunnyvale fab had 40% yields but with a large variation wafer to wafer.

One VERY MAJOR and several smaller production problems were corrected and now the yields are above 50% consistently.

Kumar should have explained that these were the pilot runs at Fab 25 and that Sunnyvale fab was doing much better, but, heck, how much can you make with 500 wafers a week and 40% yield?
