Thyruad; It'l be rooling over here too..we are just getting ready to boom..these sub $1000 units are bring people in who would never come in..I have people calling me asking is this a good deal is that..heck ya they are so many good deals right now..it's sucking them in..we have an internet backbone that no one in the world can come close to ( the super highway here is way ahead ) the cheap units are just part of the story..look at the software look at the ( gas you sell )..with networking and the internet being a big part of it..servers got to go in. A computer comes with a modem..but well the ISP..will need to expand..and with more than just a modem..more lines..more drives , more switches.. more high end stuff will go in..years ago you just bought a computer i use to build boxes..even then people could pay more for software in a short time than the computer cost..<g> Now they "rent time on the web "..buy other service on the web.. and so cheap desktops will jack up lots of stuff..telcos are flying..and will fly on..this sub 1000 will explode here..fast as we have the ability ( the big lines are in the ground and we are putting more of them down faster than Europe knows how to wipe its rear end. ) They all seem to struggle against one another, with phone tarrifs and all..also our phone system is the cheapest in the world..and the best by far, making the computer a better bagain here..sure Europe will grow..but don't get the idea it will out run us.. we got one hell of a head start and this stuff grows exponentially that exponentially thing is the key, buy the time they catch up..we are long gone, they will still be putting in modems when we go wireless. Canada is flying..web wise..about as fast as we are, the "line rent" is higher in Europe..and that will be a drag. It's holding Japan back bad. This computer thing is tied to the phone thing more than ever.. My guess is France will have the cheapest phone rates..over there. It's just a guess from a short visit there compared to England, I found The Phone system in France better..don't know about Germany..Japan is high..Asia and most 3rd world countries are way way way behind. Jim republic.net Good Phone system and backbone = computer explosion, sub 1000 sets will sling shot the whole thing, who is going to sell the gas. CPQ thats who..,I'm looking for 7000 more ISPs before long, in the back room of Radio Shack stores with CPQ servers, move over AOL..
