I read through a large number of posts on ACLY and felt compelled to make the following comments:

There is a large amount of code running on the VAX/VMS platform and FORTRAN owns more than other 3GL's. Significant amount of code exists in the following languages; Pascal, Basic, VAX Macro, Cobol and ADA.

Piercom has superior tools overall, they do a better job with remediation, however they only have Cobol at the present time. Piercom's Cobol tool is better than Acceler8.

NO ONE had thus far remediated a lot of VMS code in any language. They are very slow/late starting. Some are starting to wake up but my feeling is that no large tool revenue will be realized until the second half of 1998. Don't expect a lot of Acceler8 revenue from DEC this Quarter.

Critical FORTRAN applications have to be either scanned or tested for date problems - can't assume that there won't be date problems.

Things will get crazy when everyone wakes up and realizes it's too late!
