Hey Jeff,

YES! I'm sure that's the problem. After learning that Joe had sound in his profile, I figured I was missing a plug-in. Got rid of my computer before ordering a new one. In the interim, I'm stuck with a 486 laptop that's not worth updating. Will wait for new hardware. Thanks Jeff, and to Joe, Charger and Frank F for their suggestions.
