Thomas, not surprised per your tidbit above. You know what??? DEC should OEM SGI graphics cards into an Alpha workstation. NOW THAT'S AN ENTRANCE!!! ...as The Riddler would say...

Thanks for your take on IRIX too... imho, if SGI's gonna keep it around for the long haul, they should spend some cash and get all the well known "killer enterprise apps" ported NOW!!!

Then again, who am I -but a lowly camel trader spewing cyber-rabble on his ever patient SGI threaderati- to even suggest what the SGI pocket-protector crowd should do next????

I have been silently following these discussions, I am curious which company you and others think will offer what will become the best or standard flavor of Unix on Merced. Could it be SCO, will Intel or Compac do it using and extending DEC's Unix, any ideas on this?
