Patroller,
Michael Brown's guidance was no different from Jabil's. MB said that the inventory would be cleared up by the end of the June quarter. That means that they put in orders to Jabil sometime before the end of that quarter, in order to have product ready for the Sept. quarter.

Yes, it's true, they are "just guessing" as wayne and others have suggested. But their guess is better than ours--they are guessing based on what their resellers and distributors are telling them is in the channel already and what demand is. Stuff happens, and things can always change. Yes, they said something different at the end of last Q--they said that they thought it would be cleared up by the end of March, as I recall, but also fudged a little and said that things were still murky. Well, what else is new? This is a murky business, these things aren't like newspapers, to some extent they are discretionary, at least in terms of time of sale (they aren't discretionary in terms of having something backing up your system, though). The Asian mess is mucking everyone up to some extent.
