John, here is a link which Mr. Engle was kind enough to post for me earlier today:

zdnet.co.uk

As you can see, it states: "AMD today confirmed the K6-3D processor will be late. The chip, which will be manufactured with the help of IBM, will now appear around April/June."

That appears consistent with the VERY SPECIFIC date given in the article Profits posted, May 27. This may be late, given AMD's original schedule, but, as you can see from the following slide from 1997 AMD analyst meeting, AMD promised the 3D for the first half of 1998.

amd.com

So maybe the left hand does know what the right hand is doing? Comparing AMD's CeBit comments to the off-the-cuff remark of some Asian middle manager is a pretty shaky proposition. Of course, there's a slight chance you may be right, but I for one am fairly certain that Robert Stead knows more about AMD's schedule than you do.

Just to be kind to you Intel people, I will point out one cause for concern in AMD's statements: the K6-3D is apparently starting at 266 mhz. That was not the original plan.

Kevin

John , you are incredible.
You always have something to say to shore up Intel's stock !
Have you ever considered that you may be wrong ?
As many of the AMD investors have been saying for over a year
INTEL'S MONOPOLY IS OVER , can't you see the evidence ?
It is in the chart , in the sales statistics and in their shrinking profit margins . The ONLY hope for Intel is that they can sell enough server CPUs to business and high priced PIIs to consumers that just have to have the fastest even if it costs 4 times as much but gives 30% increase in speed ,
