From 3/24/98 NYT: On Tuesday, Sun will announce that Ericcson, the Swedish telecommunications giant, will license Java for use in cellular telephones, according to people privy to the negotiations. And it is also close to a licensing agreement with the consumer electronics giant Sony Corp., said an industry executive with knowledge of talks between the two companies.
