>>Patrick McDonagh, Manager of Derivatives Marketing...

...is, in my humble opinion, a good guy doing a good job with the resources he has at hand. I support any efforts, however belated, the TSE makes to improve the profile and usage of derivatives.

Patrick:

Thanks for the changes to the options quotes - much easier to get quotes now.

I hope you can keep us up to date on changes at the TSE, such as the current status of the automation project, changes to the 35 index, when TIPS goes X-div, new listings of option classes, removal of option classes, and new Futures contracts being considered!

Dave

BTW for the TIP options for some reason you can not pull up a detailed quote for the puts. The calls are OK but no pointer comes
up when you try to select a PUt option. Before there was one little
area in the left bottom corner that would work.

I have commented before on the mess created with the referendum results. Can you assure me that if I take a position in the TSE 35 options or puts, that I will have a fair chance to realize upon my profits or losses when the results of an election or referendum are known. I got killed on the last referendum because of in my view the system, did not allow me to trade my options for a couple of hours when the market opened after the referendum. If you want to talk about education, talk about educating people as to when the system won't work so at least they will understand the risk going into the investment. If anyone had told me that I would not be able to trade my options and puts for approx. a two hour period after the market opened after the referendum results, I would have seriously considered whether to invest or not. I understood that it was an open market and I could trade the options and puts. I was wrong and in spite of my brokers apologies, I lost money from your system so don't talk education until you have a system that performs.

Mr McDonagh, as Manager of Derivatives Marketing at the Toronto Stock Exchange, would you like to make a statement or express an opinion on the legal threats by upper TSE management against Porter Davis and Silicon Investor for Porter's exercise of his right to free speech in our supposedly free and enlightened society?

As well, if you or someone else would be so kind as to inform us of the chain of command at the TSE, the order of who reports to whom, and specifically by whose authority does Mr Roland Fleming continue in his employment at the exchange, I'm sure most of us who trade there regularly but until this time have not had occasion for this inquiry would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance ....... marcos (TSE investor/speculator/trader and SIer)

Mr Fleming, you are making us all look like a bunch of mouth-breathing idiots.
I arrived at my computer an hour ago to find a flood of private messages and emails, the majority of which came from south of the 49th and overseas. How can I explain to these people that your actions against Porter Davis are not representative of the ways in which we Canadians treat each other?

Under this boyish charm and air of sans souciance lies a deep pride in my Canadian citizenship, Mr Fleming. Of course I understand that Canadians have included Clifford Olsen and Maurice DuPlessis and Paul Bernardo and John Felderhof and the like, but I would like to think the leaders of our institutions, especially the leaders of the premier stock exchange of our country, are above this sort of underhanded stifling by threat of litigation of their adversaries. I'd like to think that they had the self-respect and the courage to debate their differences in public instead.

How about it, Mr Fleming - if you have a problem with what Porter says on this thread, you are welcome to post your response to it here. Out in the open. Above board.
Like a Canadian.

Did you catch the second part of the Dieppe bit on CBC last night, Mr Fleming?
We have not always been led well, but the truth comes out in the end.

Thanks for listening, anyway, Mr Fleming ......... buenas tardes, eh ...... marcos

PS - Patrick, this is not directed at you, I think everybody knows that .. cheers
