Jock:

Raymond James is an LSI fan though I think they downgraded to hold after the Q4 warning.

Optimay to supply GSM software for
two basebands

by Chris Edwards of Electronics Times - 26/1/98

Munich-based GSM intellectual property (IP) supplier Optimay has been selected by both
Hitachi and LSI Logic to provide software for their respective single-chip GSM baseband
processors.

For the Hitachi design, it is the first time that both human-machine interface (HMI) and the
GSM protocol stack have been implemented on the same processor core. Designed to run
on the 60MIPS SH-DSP, the software is able to support half-rate GSM voice and channel
codecs as well as functions that would normally be run on a separate microcontroller.

For LSI Logic's implementation, Optimay has supplied the GSM protocol stack which will
run on the Oak DSP and TinyRISC cores.
