I think that really was a case of bad marketing by DECUS. It was hard to tell that this was even a DECUS event, they deemphasized their usual traditional VMS and UNIX focus and made the conference look like a generic NT seminar.

But I would say that the user's group has dwindled as most business environments have become more heterogenious. When everything in your shop was digital, this user's group was much more valuable.
