I guess this rules out JC, a little more than the Committee Chairman deal:

Ex-IBMer Cannavino takes top post at CyberSafe

Veteran IBM executive Jim Cannavino has taken the job of chairman and CEO of CyberSafe, the company announced Tuesday.

Cannavino spent 32 years at IBM before retiring from his post as senior vice president for strategy and development. He went on to join Perot Systems in 1995 as president and chief operating officer, and left that company last July.

Last year Cannavino was rumored to be on the short list of candidates for the CEO job at Apple. The Apple board's external executive search has not been successful, and according to reports in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, it is sweetening its offer to entice interim CEO Steve Jobs to take the post permanently.

At CyberSafe, Cannavino will be responsible for strategy, day-to-day operations, and overall organization of the company, according to a statement released Tuesday.

"I am intrigued by CyberSafe's unique approach to developing security products and its ability to help customers realize the business-to-business and electronic-commerce implications of securing their networks," Cannavino said in the statement.

With its TrustBroker Security Suite, CyberSafe focuses on network security for intranets, extranets, and Internet-commerce efforts.

Great call on today's price. I didn't think it was going to top $27.50.

As a little aside, while channel surfing yesterday I came across a Martha Stewert rerun. I paused when I saw she was siting in front of a Powerbook, 1400c I think but I am not sure. Anyway I don't know how old it was but she was describing to benefits of an Internet connection. I missed the part when she was acctualy talking about the Apple. Also on the table was an internal and external modem. Unfortunately when she came back from commercial was was at a Wintel desktop. She then showed step-by-step how easy it was to connect to the internet by clicking the Internet icon. I wish she acctualy tried to go through setting up an ISP connection on the Wintel but you know the show is only so long.

Anyway the point is Martha has a lot of influence on her audience. That free little spot could do as much for Apple as the snail add to get them into new non-computer literate homes.
