In terms of stock market investing, CheckFree is riskier than First Data, said analyst Robert Bolen with J.C. Bradford in Nashville, "because it's a pure play on electronic bill paying, while First Data is a large, diversified, well-established credit card processor that's sticking its toe into electronic bill paying. But with a pure play and higher risk comes a higher reward potential."

Interesting spin. If you're looking for a pure play on e-billing, CKFR is it.

BTW, I added considerably to my position today.

A fairly objective article, a few mis-statements:

"I think (Internet billing services) could add to First Data's revenue base $500 million to $1 billion within a couple of years."

"The company has bled red ink since its inception in 1981 because of the costs of installing its electronic payments systems in an ever-widening base of banking clients."

...These statements would let you believe that CheckFree has never turned a profit, and that of course is false. Also the article would leave you believe that FDC can somehow avoid these costs that CKFR has had, It mentions 1 billion dollar revenue, but doesn't mention cost.

"CheckFree, which should turn profitable in June, having never had a profit," analyst Davis said."

...Well, he's in for a shock in about four weeks.
