Bad, Inconsistent growth does not equal value. Looking forward two years ago the Street expected growth. There has been nothing but dissapointment. 3com must contend with Cisco at the high-end, which is essentially an impossible task and Intel at the low-end, which is no walk in the park. Furthermore, there are new technologies being developed that 3com may not be a leader in. Also, they still have to work out their inventory problem. 3com really does not deserve to trade at a premium to earnings since its earnings are so unpredictable. This is the main reason why a Coke, Merck and Schering trade at premiums. These firms have proven their strength in consistent growth not in years, but in decades.

It's sad to say, but the market will probably be up tomorrow, and COMS along with it. I agree with an earlier post which said this market is a joke. Earnings just don't matter anymore, and the ANALysts are able to reason away all the downside risk in a stock with their bull****.

Pretty disgusting.

David, I agree that the future is what matters. The only problem
is that the future looks crappier than the present.
