Short Interest Specifics Timba, I've only shorted stock once in my life and lost money. The investor sells stock that he does not own at the market or limit price then prays for it to take a ride down. Once the lower target price is hit the stock is purchased at a limit or market price to cover the original sale. The difference is profit. There are no strike or expiration prices that I am aware of. The existance of short interest indicates some investors believe TASA is headed for a fall. The fact that short interest is decreasing over time is a plus in our favor. Investors may be covering their short position due to the rise in price created by new money and news. Of course all this new buying reduces supply and the price jumps. The result is sometimes referred to as a short squeeze. I believe stock on all exchanges can be shorted. There may be some price or collateral requirements to short penny stocks.
