1999 Boom Year Ahead!
.........
Date: March 24, 1998
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Highlights:
* Semiconductor growth is estimated at 7% in 1998 and 24% in 1999, with the biggest swing in memory chips.
* Semiconductor capital spending is estimated at down 10% in 1998 but up 15% in 1999. Wafer fab equipment is estimated at off 5% in 1998 and up 18% in 1999.
* We believe a swing from over-capacity to under-capacity by 2H99 will shift investment choices from the more stable analog IC and photomask suppliers to the more cyclical IC companies and the semiconductor capital equipment suppliers.

MYNGA,

"[AMD] traced it [(yield short fall)] back to a cleaning process"

Just how a routine cleaning process be the culprit?

This still remains a rumor --- barking up the wrong tree! The root cause is right in AMD's face but too embarrassing to admit --- too aggressive of design rule and immature manufacturing process.

It looks like you swallowed the bait just like the recent folks who went long.

John.
