Alot of threaders were all excited about this co when it was in the 20's last summer and that was with Egg McCracken at the helm <g>. Now sgi has a new ceo with proven management skills, sits near its all time low valuation with a p/s of .67 and p/b 1.29 and everyone's bored (compared to the cheerleading and bashing that dominate many other threads that is). This lack of enthusiasm along with an almost a complete absence of "this company is a dog with bad management" type sentiment are very positive indicators for this stock imo. To me this feels like the boring "let's just wait and see" pause at the bottom that often preceeds and explosive move up. More now than ever, this is a classic Ken Fisher stock pick. Jeff Maresh where are you?

There is a lot of talk on this thread by very knowledgeable people detailing just how sgi might streamline itself and turn around. My hope is that like in the examples of Sunbeam and AT&T, it will be a new and competent ceo that makes the biggest difference in executing a plan that will enhance shareholder value. With the level of talent and creativity in sgi's workforce, executing a successful plan could only be limited by a lack of imagination and vision on the ceo's part. In light of the Rockets turnaround at HP, it seems to me like sgi's in good hands. My excitement is based on the observation that the street's jaded wait and see attitude, exacerbated by McCracken's incompetence and dishonesty, provides an opportunity for those who act on the convivction that one way or another Rick Belluzzo will turn SGI around.

Personally I purchased another 3rd last week and am hoping for another earnings disappointment which could help the stock price retest its lows and provide the last buying opportunity at anything near these levels.

If anyone knows of any other large, established companies with great management and currently trading at low historical p/s and p/b values please share with all..

Does anyone have a WWW source for numbers on % of institutional investors, and insider buying and selling activity? It would be very valuable to know if insiders are accumulating at these levels.

thanks
