I think it's just a value play. We started to get back to this point and there was profit taking last week that stalled a revaluation that seems more fair. Or at least that's my opinion. I love the stock at this price.

Looks like a great day coming, or at least a good morning.

Regards,

Mark

Don't know why it was up the other day, or yesterday, but I agree, it seems just to be a value play along with rising on the tide of other equipment stocks. Still, with all the pressure to report a good quarter, they did really well.

Saw Cognex is up nicely today. The spread on ESIO is now 1/16th which is amazing, but the last trade I saw still managed to split the spread. Who would bother for 500 shares? Seems like we should end the day up if there is any justice.

I ran across this story and remembered patent suits from General Scanning against ESI. Do you know if there are any suits still pending, and if this could be related to ESI?

The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has allowed Robotic Vision Systems, Inc. (RVSI) to add General Scanning to its current patent suit against View Engineering, Inc., alleging that General Scanning, as View's parent company, as well as View Engineering, may be liable. In October of 1995, RVSI filed a complaint for patent infringement against View. A trial date has been set for Aug. 3.

Do you think these cancellations from KLIC will have much impact on ESI?

KULICKE & SOFFA ANNOUCES MAJOR ORDER CANCELLATION
=================================================

After the close of market today (4/2), Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc.
(KLIC) announced that a major customer canceled an order for over 100
model 8060 automatic wedge bonders scheduled to ship in the June
quarter. Bonders have typical ASPs of around $100,000 but these are more
sophisticated and hence more expensive than regular ball bonders.
Therefore, we anticipate that this will hit KLIC by well over $10
million in lost revenue next quarter.

The customer was not named, but we understand that it is Intel who is
cutting back their planned capital spending for microprocessor assembly
equipment. At one point, they were accelerating capacity build for
anticipated volume of sub- $1000 PC chips, but end demand is obviously
down and so is the need for assembly capacity.

K&S CEO, Scott Kulicke was quoted as saying, "We have a backlog of other
orders, but not enough to make up the shortfall in planned shipments
caused by this cancellation. As a result, revenues for the June quarter
are likely to be significantly below street expectations and
consequently we anticipate a net loss for that quarter. We are assessing
the impact on operations and plan appropriate measures to bring
production capacity into line with anticipated demand."

The company will hold a 6AM PST conference call tomorrow (Friday), so if
we learn any more there, we will publish another update.
