Paul the "last mile" can easily be done with ADSL. I have had an ADSL connection since Feb 18 of this year. Downloading a 9 meg file takes about 3 minutes.

That is almost like the chicken or egg paradox. But, more seriously, the market IS there as is the technology. Forget the last mile. Let the Telcos fight over that.

Look at Qwest or Level 3 Communications. James P Crowe announces his telecom strategy and his bb stock goes to over $10B in valuation overnight. All he has is $3B in cash and nothing else. He is not even a rocket scientist - and Craig Barrett IS.

There are no geniuses in the telecom business. They are all modeled after Robert Allen (bureacratic infighters using the legislative maze as a shield).
