at this price and at this point almost any proven
reserves release should be good news and bring the
stock price up.the next major hurdle will be to
actually get some consistent production (and
income) to prove they can or will succeed.

Hi, Michael. A single hole cannot provide any estimate of proven reserves. A hole gives you depth distribution at a given point in the surface. What you need then is a number of holes to give you a picture of the mineralization characteristic in a volume. The minimum distance needed between holes depends on the homogeneity of that volume. for gold deposits, homogeneity is generally low, hence more holes needed for a given area. Since I am no geologist however, I cannot give you numbers.
Michel

<< This is a very basic question, but to what distance from a drill hole can one assume mineralization? >>

25 meters.

So drill holes must be drilled at each 50 meters. Of course, in placer deposits, a combination of bulk samples and drilling can achieve similar results.
