Sheila ,

We either need a good psychic or an undertaker for Iomega .

Take your pick ,

Herb

SR,
I agree that KE's exit is long term good for the company. He was locked in a marketing differentiation and premium pricing scheme that clearly could not work in the current disk media market.

The price of media was plummetting too fast and he kept holding out his outdated marketing reports (from last summer). Well, the market and consumers got out ahead of him, so his advertising campaign failed.

However, it failed NOT because it was inappropriate, but because he did not lower zip prices across the board.

We all know OEM drives are cheaper than retail drives, so lots of OEM drives are cannabilizing retail sale drives. Thus we will have lower margins this quarter.

The ouster of KE signals the end of the premium pricing strategy.

The price of zip and jaz and jaz2 will not drop to match the /gig pricing of the HDD industry.

For KE to quit now, signals that there was great displeasure within the board about his advertising campaign (risky), and he knew that the campaign would not produce the desired results.

IMO this is positive for IOM.

:)

Goodby! Kim Edwards. just a moment of silence........................... .......................................................................................................
I'm saddened by the failure of K.E. to succeed, after all much is due to his credit but I think it's fairly obvious that the subsequent programs along with management of the political and legal affaires were lacking.

I did expect a change in direction due to the announcement of this quarters short coming but I'm surprised that these changes appear to have been at such odds that K.E. felt compelled to leave.

I was not calling for K.E.'s replacement, but it looks like the only way a change could be had was to move someone else in. The new game plan will be exciting for the company.

I respect the conviction that the board seems to have positioned itself on and welcome the acknowledgment of the need to change course. This ! is what Andy calls a strategic inflection.

Is this company full of sunrises or what ?
Can anyone comment on the new temporary ?
Can't help but speculate here, but wondering if were in play ?
Looking forward to the new IOM, hope we get a kick ass CEO.

Regards
Reseller

Adds can now become intelligible. KE did fine, but I always felt that the adds for IOM were hard to understand by the regular Joe. The adds tended to assume that the uninitiated knew what they were trying to sell. I think a new CEO who is strong in TV marketing and visuals should be one who can advertise the products in a straightforward manner and not waste time and $$ on silly skits that are hard to follow. Forget the GenX hip, cool, twisted blather. Just be straigtforward with IOM's truly useful products. They aren't toys. They are serious, revolutionary tools that everyone needs.
