Jim,

"If AMD used the same strategy they would be displaying refrigerated K6s running at 700 mhz"

Based on the fact that you have to increase the core supply voltage to 3.3V (absolute limit), I will bet refrigeration would not buy K6 any good speed. It would on Intel's Pentium-II and P/MMX though.

John.

Jim
1st of all it is not reality yet since it is priced at levels that no one would buy it (I bet it sounds way to familiar)
2nd I think that was 2 years ago when intel run refrigerated p-pro at ~450MHz claiming that it was pII-450
3rd we were laughing at Paul and others who announced the release of pii-450 2 years back. No one really doubted the fact that intel would deliver the 400MHz chip in a year or two
-Albert

ps no one really doubts that intel would deliver 700MHz chip as well but not any time soon

Jim,

Re: "If AMD used the same strategy they would be displaying refrigerated K6s
running at 700 mhz...but they can't even get good yields at 266 much
less 300 or 400 ..."

This just shows how far behind AMD is in process develop and technology.
This is much more than the "architecture thing" that Ali and Maxwell like
to discuss ... AMD's devices/FETs obviously don't have the "margin" or
capability of hitting speeds above 400mhz. This is very worrisome.

Make It So,
Yousef
