Anybody watching ? Now up to 36 1/2.

Jan --

Thanks for the numbers. $41 this year and $56 next isn't bad, though I wouldn't mind a higher valuation. I'm guessing it'll be mid June before TI releases its C6X and after that I think the market will take off, spurred by DSL capabilities unheard of before.

Only one opinion.

Pat
BTW, try to snag #41000. You deserve it. :))

I just came from reading the news only thread and I have a few questions directed at anybody. What do you think about the beta testing of the Max6000? It didn't sound very positive although I was under the impression that asnd is trying very hard to resolve the problems encountered. It makes me nervous based on past history product problems. Next question: Is BT a new customer for asnd or have they done business before? Next question: Can asnd handle going it alone against ever increasing competition? I think these latest news releases on asnd were very positive with the exception of the beta test of the Max6000. The company sounds like it is going to be doing very well in the near and long term. This is what I have been hoping for and I have been holding shares since September 97. All thoughts appreciated. I also think it's interesting to note how bad news comes out and everybody gets nervous and then the stock price gets hammered.
Good news then follows and the stock flys back up. This thing can turn on a dime.

Jan, your analysis make sense to me. I just think any significant move above $41 any time in 98 will require some extraordinary event. Like a positive earnings surprise, big sales announcement, etc. As far as buyouts go, I think those people still looking to an LU buyout are off base. With the Livingston announcement of the PM4 recently, there doesn't appear to be any room for half of ASND's business in LU. LU would be better off with a pure ATM company like NN or FORE, which could be had cheaper anyway. Also, BAY even makes more sense at this point because of its broader product line and larger sales force.

For ASND the choice of suitors is diminishing. A merger of equals with BAY is possible but wouldn't benefit ASND shareholders much (might even drop ASND in value). I once thought CPQ was likely but their not as serious about networking as they once purported to be, and they will be focussed on getting their main business straight for awhile.

My most likely buyer of ASND at this point (which I stated here awhile back) is Intel. Intel already has close to a $1B networking business that pretty much covers the LAN with low to midrange hubs and switches and NICs. IMO they will eventually move to the WAN, and currently their is no overlap at all with the current INTC product line. Also, ASND would not drag the mighty INTC earnings in any way.

What do you think?

Look at that volume!!! Calls I imagine must be pretty expensive. Should I sell options into it? About the 35% growth rate, I'm not sure if networking stocks will ever see that kind of growth ever again given the increased competition. LU. Where in the world did this AT&T offshoot come from - nowhere into a network leader? Then you have NT, TLAB, CSCO and overseas domination by ERICY and NOK.A in high growth cellular/telecom area.
ASND is really rallying while the NDX has given back some. Good sign. Also, did anyone take contract by Netscape to CSCO as a negative on ASND?
