When is the advertising going to catch up with the page views? YHOO could have a billion page views a day, but if they can't sell the ad space, what good does it do?

I think that the answers actually are something like:

YHOO is at best in third place in web ad etc revenue behind AOL and NSCP and this is reflected in their lack of "market power" to control pricing.

Ad revenues are flat according to the independent sources discussed here yesterday.

YHOO apparently charges less per unit than many of its competitors including excite.

ps. the "hockey stick" effect usually refers to how earnings can grow once the cost of producing additional revenue becomes very small, ie revenues can grow linearly while earnings grow exponentially (until there is competition)
it does not usually refer to the growth in revenues--
