I totally agree with Red. I have not been a listener of BB's radio program because it's not widely broadcast here (Twin Cities). I finally did listen this past Saturday on the Internet and just loved it.

Why is it that everyone wants to listen to all the political rhetoric, March Madness basketball, etc. and not want to learn anything that will make them financially self-sufficient, and in fact, free! I guess it's the same reason they teach kids to wash pots and pans and clean toilets in school, but don't teach them about the economic benefits of saving, investing, etc., or anything else useful to their own economic well-being.

I can't believe I can't get Bob Brinker on the local AM station! I wish I could....Skipperr

Welcome aboard. I also dismissed Bob when I first started listening to him. While I enjoyed the show, I thought he was crazy calling for the market to go higher when I thought it was topped out. If I recall correctly, the Dow was at 2800 back then. Then in 94, he was saying any close under 3600 was a great buying opportunity. In my mind he was wrong again. Not until the 10 closes under Dow 6600 between March 30 and April 15 1997 did I put the farm on the S & P 500 (and other funds) based on his forecast. I'm very glad I did. I've made some very nice gains following Bob's advice, and have learned a great deal listening to him. Have a good day.

Regards,

Joe

Economic Booms and Busts

<<I now focus on the 2 megatrends of economic direction and interest rates/inflation. Everything else is short term "noise." The nice thing about these two megatrends is that they tend to shift direction slowly and over a period of years. So you only get buy and sell signals once every 1-5 years>>

Just a note, since 1863 the business cycle has averaged an upturn every 2 1/2 years and a downturn every 1 1/2 years over the specified period. While it may seem like you may get a signal once every 1 to 5 years do not be deceived by the abnormal business cycle we have been experiencing. That is, do not become complacent.
