Heyward, I used to be in the financial guarantee part of the insurance industry, so let me add a few thoughts about insurance. Business interruption insurance exists, but generally although not always in conjunction with a named peril. That means that the damage caused by that peril must be insured in order for business interruption insurance to kick in.

Example: you have a frozen storage facility and suffer a massive power outage that lasts for days . If you had power interruption insurance, your loss in merchandise would be covered. If you had business interruption insurance, the loss to future business would be covered provided that you had power interruption insurance.
