Agreed on the WSJ article.

My take is that in spite of the hype I find little positive for the dollar if the Euro emerges as a competitor.

I also feel that becoming the first currency "created" to be a world currency may be easier said than done. Especially when it's created by the socialist economies of Western Europe.

What is the exact details of the planned gold backing of the Euro? I haven't seen it.

That will be, of course, the wild card.
