Comline Daily News reported today that Pioneer Electronic plans to produce 600,000 DVD -ROM drives in fiscal 1998, six times the number it made in FY 1997. They said Pioneer anticipates large gains in this sector. Also mentioned was that Hitachi, has also committed to more than triple its production of DVD -ROM drives in the fiscal year beginning April 1. Hitachi plans to sell 2 million DVD -ROM drives in FY 1998.
