Jeff-

Thanks for your comments on Y2K... an area which I know a little about :)

I believe that your comments are accurate and fair regarding the magnitude and severity of the Y2K problem.

The Federal government is dangerously behind as well as many state and local agencies... Internationally it is far worse (if that is possible)...

Now the $64,000 question... where is the money to be made from Y2K? Obviously you know the answer to that question every Friday <ggg> ... but for the rest of us.... here are a few ideas....

Hardware:

PC makers will see increased sales as networks are upgraded.. (CPQ, Dell, Gateway, etc.)

Software application companies will see increased application upgrade business (ORCL, MSFT, IFMX, BAAN, SAP, etc.)

Application conversion companies will explode with sales this year (ALYD, KEA, CHRZ, IBM, EDS, CSC, PTUS, VIAS... etc.)

Testing companies like CPWR, Mercury Interactive, CDO, and Sungard are nice plays in this area...

Just my two cents on Y2K...

P.S. See you when CPQ gets to 30 in less than 60 days....;)
