I'm optimistic and positive about CPQ (past, present and future) YET this UIS announcement about outsourcing to HP is very disconcerting because:

1) A CPQ win here would have been a nice boost in $ and confidence, as well as, NOT helping HP, and

2) This lessens "any" possibility of a CPQ/UIS buy-out which would have been great and added a key exec (Weinbach) to the CPQ team, and

3) It would have given CPQ a MAJOR inroad into large gov't Y2K contracts in which UIS is BIG, and

4) I'm long in UIS too !!

This didn't make me happier, although I'm happy with CPQ progress over the last few days....earlier today one analyst described CPQ's inventory problem as an aberration and reinterated that CPQ was a great company and industry leader and would resume its leadership position by next qtr.
