OK, I like to think my strongest suit is intuition. So here goes.

What you are saying is logical. However, you know, that gold that goes to the mill is the ore grade, you know the ounce to the ton stuff. While that is nice and very good and all you still can't see it!
So if you take something to the office it is very likely to be jewelry grade gold in quartz. And if they are excited about it maybe it is a very nice example of jewelry grade quartz. Or maybe a real big example. Or maybe a real big AND nice example. And since it IS a gold mine, I would suppose it would have to be some of the above to get excited about at all.
In any case, it all depends on the veracity of the phone call. Otherwise it is just a castle in the air I suppose. Time will tell.
