there was a fellow named S. Clay Wilson that was seriously disturbed. Did mostly pirates and bikers. My favorite story was "Captain Pissgums meets the Flyin' F***in' A-Heads", where a badass biker gang is flipped in time onto a pirate ship and meets some VERY badass dudes. Wilson was also famous as the father of "The Checkered Demon", which is about as raunchy a character as one can imagine. I can't in good conscience even tell the synopsis of any of Checker's adventures. You are right, it was more interesting in 1970 than it is now. I wonder if these guys are still around. I'll check the 'net.
